Willingness and Involvement
Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV)
“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
The Foundation of Involvement: Willingness
Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
In Isaiah’s vision of the Lord in the temple, he is overwhelmed by God’s holiness and his own unworthiness. But after being cleansed by the altar’s fire, he hears the call of God. Isaiah doesn’t hesitate—he steps up and says, “Here am I; send me.”
That’s the heart of willingness—a readiness not based on our ability, but on God's mercy.
Willingness Is:
A readiness to step forward when needed
An openness to being used by God in any capacity
A form of surrender and obedience
Romans 6:13 (KJV)
“...Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead…”
Without willingness, we miss the purpose and the power God wants to work through us.
The Expression of Involvement: Action
James 2:17 (KJV)
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
Willingness opens the door—but involvement walks through it. It’s how faith becomes real.
Ways to Show Involvement:
Serving Others
Galatians 5:13 (KJV)
“...by love serve one another.”
Giving of Time and Effort
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV)
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might...”
Using Our Talents and Gifts
1 Peter 4:10 (KJV)
“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another…”
Financial Giving Is Part of Involvement
Proverbs 3:9 (KJV)
“Honour the Lord with thy substance…”
Luke 6:38 (KJV)
“Give, and it shall be given unto you…”
2 Corinthians 8:12-15 (KJV)
“...That now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want…”
Giving isn’t about what you don’t have—it’s about being part of the solution. We carry the burden together, supporting the work of God with our finances as well as our hands.
The Power of True Involvement
Being involved brings us closer to the heart of God. It strengthens the church and changes lives.
Key Truths About Involvement:
It is an act of obedience
John 14:15 – “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
It reflects commitment
Luke 16:10 – “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…”
It requires consistency and sacrifice
1 Corinthians 15:58 – “...Be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”
Principles of Involvement
God isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for people who are faithful, humble, and Spirit-led. Involvement shows we care about what God cares about—and we treat our service like something holy.
Conclusion
Involvement is vital. It’s how we grow, how we help, and how we fulfill the mission God has given the church.
Whether it's through serving, giving, helping, or leading—be involved with all your heart.
Let your prayer be like Isaiah’s:
“Here am I; send me.”
