Our Beliefs
There is only one God. He has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God who is a spirit manifested in and through an authentic human life. To see Jesus is to see God. (Deut 6:4; John 14:9; Eph 4:4-6; Col 2:9; 1 Tim 3:16)
The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true in all that it teaches. As the flawless Word of God, it is our only authority for what we believe and how we live (2 Tim 3:15-17; Psalms 119:105; 2 Pet 1:19)
God, in His love, created the first human beings, Adam and Eve, as a reflection of Himself. We maintain that human life starts at conception, with every unborn child also being a reflection of God. Additionally, we believe that God intended marriage to be a union between one man and one woman. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen 2:24; Jer 1:5)
God created this world and humanity in a perfect sinless state. Satan tempted Eve to question God’s word, and she was deceived. The sin committed in the garden has been imputed to all human beings except Christ. All humans are sinners by nature and also by choice. Because we are born sinners in need of a Savior, we must be “born again”. (Rom 3:23; Ecc 7:20; 1 Jn 1:8-10)
God manifested himself in the flesh as the man Jesus Christ for the purpose of salvation. Jesus Christ is one person with two natures, fully God and fully man. Jesus Christ came to earth to redeem sinful man as the only mediator between God and man. (Deut 6:4; Isa 43:11; Luk 2:11; Jn 10:30; Jn 14:9; Rev 1:8)
As the mediator, Jesus Christ lived a perfectly righteous and sinless life, suffered and died in the place of sinners, paying the price for our sins to forgive us and reconciling humanity to himself. (1 Tim 2:5; Gal 3:20; Jn 1:1; Jn 1:14)
After dying on the cross, Jesus Christ arose bodily from the grave on the third day, appearing to many witnesses and proving that he was alive. By obeying the new birth message, found throughout the book of Acts, we are buried with Christ, raised with Christ, and given the same Spirit that raised Christ. The new birth message includes repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name, and in the infilling of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues. (John 3:5; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 8:12; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-6)
The local church is a community of born-again believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. The church gathers regularly for preaching and worship, observes Communion, keeps the unity of the Spirit, follows after holiness, and fulfills the great commission as missionaries to the world. (Heb 10:25; Acts 2:46-47; Acts 20:20-21; Eph 4:3; 1 Thess 4:7)
Human beings, made in the image of God, are created to pour out all they are, all they do, and all they can ever become to God. Worship is to be God-centered. Worship includes prayer, Scripture reading, financial giving, singing, and music. (John 4:23; 2 Cor 9:7; Col 3:16; 1 Tim 4:13)
The ongoing mission of God’s people is to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This necessary duty requires teaching and training to go beyond scheduled services and church events to share the message with unbelievers on a regular basis. (Acts 1:8; 2 Cor 4:3; Matt 28:19)
