The Identity of Jesus Christ

There Is Only One God Revealed in Scripture

The Bible is clear—there is only one God. He is not divided into persons or roles, but fully and completely one.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.”
Deuteronomy 6:4 (KJV)

“Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
Isaiah 43:10 (KJV)

“Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.”
Isaiah 44:8 (KJV)

“I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.”
Isaiah 45:5 (KJV)

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
James 2:19 (KJV)

“A throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”
Revelation 4:2 (KJV)

Prophecies of God’s Coming in the Flesh

The Old Testament declared that God Himself would come to save His people.

“His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father.”
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive… and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

The Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ

These promises were not symbolic—they were fulfilled in the birth, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ.

“They shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Matthew 1:23 (KJV)

“Your God will come… he will come and save you.”
Isaiah 35:4–6 (KJV)

“The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed…”
Luke 7:22 (KJV)

“Out of thee [Bethlehem] shall he come forth… whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”
Micah 5:2 (KJV)

Old and New Testament Connections

The Bible is a consistent, united testimony of the identity of God.

“Who is the image of the invisible God…”
Colossians 1:15 (KJV)

“The glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.”

Jesus is not a second person in a divided Godhead. He is the fullness of God revealed in a body—the visible image of the invisible God. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one story: God became man to save us. His name is Jesus.
